Bailey and his favorite ball

Bailey and his favorite ball

My husband and I rescued Bailey when he was only a few months old. Right away we knew this lab-weim mix was no ordinary dog. He has the most wonderful personality and is so loving! He became the center of our lives going everywhere with us including vacation and sleeping in our bed. He is more human than most humans we meet!

Fast forward to now (7yrs later). We have always done the most for Bailey - giving him holistic dog food, natural treats and loving him. About a week ago I found a huge bulge in his groin, the size of a baseball, that had seemed to appear overnight. My husband took him to the vet the next day and we were devastated to find out he has lymphoma cancer.

Our world has seemed to stop and we have no idea which way to turn only knowing we are not ready to lose this precious animal from our lives.

We are looking into holistic cures for him and know we need to act quickly as he has no symptoms at this time but this could change at any time.

If anyone has suggestions or has had good results from something please let us know.

And please, PLEASE pray for our baby!

Bailey's progress
by: Anonymous

Bailey is now on his 3rd round of chemo and doing amazing! He went into full remission at the end of his first round and we couldn't be more happy! We are so blessed to have been given this extra time with him. He is our whole world!

We are so glad that we did the chemo and so thankful to all his Dr's. We have been driving an hour and a half weekly for his chemo treatments and they have been so great with him.

If you have an animal in your life that you love more than life then do what it takes! We knew no matter what the outcome that we would never forgive ourselves if we didn't try to do whatever we could to save his life.

My heart goes out to all of you because I know how I felt and it was heartbreaking. I look at Bailey every day and thank God we have been given another day with this beautiful animal.

Fingers crossed for you

Hi I know what your going through.

We have no children and bought our boxer at 7 weeks old. He our world, so full of character.

Four weeks ago he coughed and I went to rub his throat - his glands were massive. He has lymph cancer and I panicked and started him on chemotherapy straight away. It was supposed to last 25 weeks but this week after week 4 they told me it hasn't worked and he has about 4 months.

I am not accepting that as he is so lively, still playing, eating, and walking. I have started him on k9 immune, k9 wafer, and fish oil. I got them from America but also found them on amazon. I have just read lots of reviews how they build up the immune system.

I also have him on fresh chicken and steak, sprouts, broccoli, green beans and cabbage.

When they told me on Thursday that the chemo hadn't worked, they were going to give him rescue chemotherapy but his white blood cells were too low. They gave him an injection under his skin and the swelling has really come down and he seems even better than before.

I'm going to take him back next week to test his blood cells again to see is he can have the rescue chemotherapy as I don't know what else to do and to be honest he has never had side affects from any of the treatments and, because he is a people dog, he actually seems to enjoy going there to meet everyone.

Good luck to you and everyone else who has posted on here.

Stay positive!

Jake
by: Debbie

My Jack Russell Jake has been diagnosed with Stage 2 lymphoma and I was just curious to know whether or not you chose to do chemo and if so did it help.

We took Jake to the oncologist today and they started chemo. We would do anything for our little baby boy but don't want to put him through chemo if he isn't going to get better. The doctor said there is a very good chance that he can and I just wanted to see what your experiences have been dealing with this dreadful diagnosis. If you would like you can email me at spot911@ATT.net. Any encouraging words would be very much appreciated.

Fingers crossed for Bailey

Hi I know how you feel.

Last week my dog 9 year old boxer was acting like he had a sore throat. The vet said all of his lymph glands were swollen and done some tests. It was my birthday yesterday and I got a call from the vet to say he had cancer in his lymph glands. We have no children and he is our baby, had him from 7 weeks and I'm so proud to own him.

He had a bad day yesterday as his neck had swollen so much. Last night the vet gave him steroids and this morning he is a bit brighter. I know the side affect of the steroids is more drinking and he wet his bed last night but no worries I can wash that. He goes in the vet tomorrow for tests on his liver and kidneys to make sure it hasn't spread. I have asked to be referred to an oncologist to discuss chemotherapy because we need to be careful as he has a grade 3 heart murmur. I'm not giving up on him without a fight.

I will pray for Bailey and my Latchford and hope they both have some happy times to come yet.

Bailey's progress
by: christine

Thank you for the thoughts! Bailey has been going through chemo for 4 weeks now and is doing very well. We were lucky to have found it early and it probably saved his life. His Dr and oncologist are very wonderful and explained everything in detail before we started treatment.

So here we are 4 weeks later and they expect him to go into full remission very soon. We thank God every day that he is doing so well. He is such a sweet dog and we love him more than you can imagine. We know we made the right decision to save this beautiful animals life. We just weren't ready to lose him.
