good food starts early from mumma
Its getting to be easier to find the quality foods I want to feed my pack of energetic exuberant Boston Terriers and that's good news all around.
While I do still run into those folks who prefer to spend their dollars on veterinary bills later and feed cheap grocery store food now, it is starting to swing the way of good food, even where people are on tight budgets. I am on a fixed income so I understand the point of view whereby one might think cheaper food is the way to go but with experience I have seen that saving money on what you feed does not equate to less money spent on your dog in the long run over time. Rather, I have found quite the opposite to be true.
I have never understood this way of thinking. I have five Boston Terriers who have from day one with the very first Boston I ever owned (he is nearly 7 yrs with no health issues ever) being fed Orijen dry food (I vary between all 4 different types) as a free service item. They can snack and nibble whenever they feel the need throughout their days and none of my dogs are overweight. They are also fed a breakfast of canned tripette (beef or lamb tripe) mixed into some dry orijen. To this I add their vitamins/natural remedies/boosters for gestation/and charcoal to aid their wee bodies to rid themselves of the many toxins they might encounter living in our world.
I have never had veterinary bills beyond vaccinations (and we are on the 3 yr plan so as not to overburden their little bodies with too much vaccine toxins) and I put this down to my avid reading of natural remedies and primarily to the use of only quality foods in their diets.
I supplement my pregnant bitches with red raspberry to strengthen uterine lining and help with successful natural labours. My puppies are all weaned onto tripe and orijen dry puppy chow.
I make my own biscuits wherever possible but if time doesn't allow then I do buy store brands - it's usually Darford hearts that I buy from our local pet store.
