Undifferentiated Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Hi,

I can hardly believe it. Last week my 14 year old toy poodle, Fifi, stopped eating. I took her to the vet and they thought she had pancreatitis so we went to Kansas State Veterinary clinic. It's a teaching school and they do lots of research etc. We went so they could do an abdominal ultrasound and possible biopsy. What they found, instead of a tumor, was they thought her blood work showed that she possible had Leukemia. They did a bone marrow test to confirm it. It did, she has undifferentiated acute lymphoblasitc leukemia.

They started her on Prednisone 5 mg daily and then Lomustine 10mg about every 3 weeks. She does have her appetite back and she has more energy since she is eating again. They said that if she responds to the Lomustine that she could live for another 2 to 6 months. I just want her to feel as good as she can for the time she has left.

Has anyone's dog had this disease? If so did you give them anything, herbs, special diet, etc. that helped them?

I have another toy poodle that is 16 and has always had bad health. Fifi has been the healthiest dog ever. She has hardly ever been sick her whole life. These dogs are my babies and I'm really not sure how I am going to handle it when it gets to the end. On top of this I just lost my mother 3 weeks ago. I hope I am strong enough to handle all of this. Please share you story. I would like to hear anything that would help with my dog's last days.

Micheale
