Our dog just diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma

by Brett B.
(San Diego, CA)

Our beloved Golden Retriever had a splenectomy for a ruptured tumor on her spleen and has been diagnosed with hermangiosarcoma. We have gotten xrays (normal Vet didn't see anything) but have not seen a specialist yet.

She is very playful since the surgery but I understand this is normal and she will just become more lethargic over time. We are waiting to see the specialist to determine if chemo is the right treatment. We are not willing to give up but don't want her quality of life to suffer just for an extra couple of months.

I have been researching the holistic treatments and would love to hear any stories good or bad regarding this kind of treatment.

Thank you in advance for sharing.

Brett B.

Post emergent splenectomy/Hemangiosarcoma NEW
by: True's Mom

Our beloved shepherd True had an emergent splenectomy last Monday. While she came through the surgery well a post operative chest xray gave us the devastating news that her lungs are riddled with small tumors. Please keep her in your prayers as we take this day by day.

Losing another GSD
by: Rachel

I feel everyone's pain.

I have lost 3 of my babies to HS. My beautiful Georgia has succumed as well. Sadly I am a bit of an expect predicting it. She is the last of my special era of kids. It's heartbreaking. Two kids were only 7, one at 11 and Georgia is 9 next month.

I am a vet nurse, and trust me, when you open them up, the mess in there makes you realise how sick they are. Just love them to death.

Our beloved Boomer
by: Brett B

Our beloved Boomer went to be with God yesterday. She went peacefully and is now in a place free of pain. We loved her and will miss her deeply. She will always be in our hearts. God bless you all.

Finally some good news
by: Anonymous

We saw the cancer specialist yesterday and he conducted an ultrasound and echocariogram and all indications are clear. We were very relieved but still know it's not over. We are determining whether to start treatment with doxorubicin, some other steroids, or a more holistic approach. If anyone has any stories, we would be most appreciative of hearing your experiences. Still battling!

Thanks to Rick & Brenda
by: Brett B

Rick & Brenda
- Thank you for the note, thoughts and prayers. We are meeting with the specialist on Thursday. My wife and I are leaning toward not using chemo treatments and try holistic treatment. Just can't bear to see our baby girl in pain. We will just enjoy whatever time we have left with her - long walks, hugs, and lots of treats. Thanks again for taking the time to write. Best Wishes.
