My Toy Poodle Molly has Liver Tumor

by Pam
(Venice, CA, USA)

Molly, my ten year old toy poodle was diagnosed with 6.7 cm primary liver tumor. Her vet said whether or not it is malignant is not really important because it is behind her rib cage and she probably wouldn't survive surgery, although her other organs are in good shape. I feel helpless.

Have you tried natural remedies for Molly?
by: Hazel (Site Editor)

Hi, Pam,

I am so sorry for Molly. How is she doing? Does she have any pain? How about her appetite? Did her vet suggest anything at all for the tumor?

Don't feel helpless, Pam. I know it's difficult but try to have hope. Also, there are still things you can try. For example:

1) Be sure to feed Molly natural foods.

2) If she doesn't have an appetite, try to warm the food up a bit to bring out the aroma. Try also sprinkle some herbs on her food, such as chopped garlic, dill, ginger, fennel. Dogs like the taste of these herbs.

3) Since her liver has a tumor, try to lessen the burden on her liver and strengthen the parts that are not affected by the tumor. The herb Milk thistle is a liver herb. Dandelion and licorice are good too.

4) Try herbal cancer remedy ESSIAC (you can find more information on our "Herbs for Cancer" page. This remedy contains herbs that can detoxify the liver.

Please let us know how you and Molly are doing.

Best of luck!
