My Dog Chloe has Tumors on Liver and Spleen

by Thomas Derrick
(Dawsonville Ga.)

Chloe is an 8 1/2 yr old boxer. She is the love of my life. I delivered her. I was there when she took her first breath and I'll be there when she takes her last.

She was bloated so I took her into the vet. She was bleeding from the liver. The vet said she had a half-dollar size tumor on the spleen so he removed the whole spleen. Then he noticed 15 tumors on her liver and the bigest one was where she was bleeding from. He removed part of her liver and the bleeding tumor.

She is now home and recovering. The vet said she probably has two weeks to two months to live. My heart is just completely broken.

After two days she seemed to be doing worse so I thought I was going to have to say good bye today but last night she perked up, barked and walked outside with me. I was shocked of course and decided well, if she's feeling a little better I'm not going to put her down.

I have been boiling chicken breasts and then making rice in the broth. I shred the chicken and then mix it all together. She won't eat her regular food and my thoughts were protein and carbs.

This morning I made some more for her and gave her the meds that the vet prescribed. Two for liver functions, one for pain, and an antibiotic.

Liver Mass
by: Sara

How long did your Chloe live? I just found out that my Terrior has a bleeding mass in his liver & they are going in tomorrow to try & remove it. He was fine yesterday and today he started to vomit so I took him in and my world changed. I understand dogs don't live that long, but nothing prepares you for this. They said that it was a 25% chance of not being cancer. Sorry to hear about your pup!

Your best friend

So very sorry to hear about Chloe.

We just lost our collie, Robbie, to prostate cancer so I know what you're going through. We were given a month to a year once we found out what was wrong. He lasted about 8 wks.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Chloe.
