Lost Loving Lexi

Ten short years ago, something truly majestic came into our family life. "Lexi". My wife fell deeply in love with a boxer we traveled so far to see. True love at first sight. What an amazing power to witness. Not off mom's milk yet, we purchased her in a heartbeat. Ah, my wife's eyes gleamed. She could not take them off of her. Sad that we left without her, but to return in two weeks when the breeder felt she was good enough to come to her new home with us.
We could not wait to get her home... That's when the fun really began, the growing, the teaching and all the training, the stubbornness, the comedy, and the tears... Oh Lexi. Oh Miss Personality. Never ever did I think we would grow so attached to you. All the laughing and wrestling we did together. So real, so loving. We knew your every growl your every bark so lifelike, even your sighs almost human...we knew everything you said to us or by that canny and funny body language...
All these years went buy so fast, we never knew the ending was coming so quick. You died on Monday October 19th 2009 at 1:56 p.m.
Never again will we get to look in those big brown beautiful eyes that turned gray some time ago... Except for that one split second your eyes turned brown again when they stuck that needle in your vein... It was you, you were there... you looked right at mommy and daddy and said don't leave me please, please don't go... I love you with big brown beautiful eyes, all that gray was gone. You came back to us...Mommy and Daddy said we would never leave you Lexi... we love you... and will forever... And we are setting you free now because we love you, go on go now go... you will be free and never feel pain again...
Lexi, wherever you are and wherever you roam... May the sun shine on your beautiful face... and the wind blow always at your back, till we get to heaven to reunite. We feel your presence and hold you dear to our hearts...
Love, Mommy and Daddy, Leandra, Melanie and Grandma...
