Limb Swelling Weeks After Radiation Treatment

Hello all,
My 12 YO German Shepherd/Husky mix Dixie has gone through her 5 palliative radiation treatments with flying colors. About 2 weeks afterwards, her leg began having some swelling in it. On the advice of her oncology vet & her regular vet, I've been treating it with warm, moist compresses twice daily & massages.
She tries to go on 2 10-min walks each day, but is hampered by weak ligaments in her rear knees. I've not had success in getting the swelling to go down. I'm wondering if any of you have faced the same issue & if so what have you done to alleviate the problem?
