Fibrosarcoma in 10 year old male Husky
by Linda Kay

Stoli my rescued blue-eyed red boy was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma almost a year ago. Although his tumor on his right rear knee has grown from the size of a quarter to being larger than a grapefruit, he is doing great! My vet says if he is not limping he is not in pain and thus far no limp.
We go for long leash walks every single day regardless of the weather. I tried to put him off one day when we were having severe thunder storms all day long and he was so upset with me I finally took him anyway. He was relentless about having his daily walk.
I love this gentle creature with all my heart. Regardless of what others have said and written about the Siberian Husky breed this dog does not have an agressive bone in his body, nor has he ever attacked a cat! As a matter of fact, my cat sometimes goes on walks with us.
My preference for this particular breed goes back many many years. I bought my first one from a breeder in the '70's but the rest of the huskies who "owned" me have been rescued dogs either from shelters or rescue organizations. I have never had a "bad" one and there have been many. I think I first zeroed in on this breed because of my love of wolves and the resemblance therein. I wish I could have saved more than I have and also wish I could have a second life to do so.
When the time comes for Stoli to cross over the rainbow bridge (and I will not let him suffer!) he will have a private cremation. Upon my death his ashes, his soul-mate Sasha's and mine will all be joined together for all eternity in a predetermined place of beauty.
God Bless You All who have either lost your best friend or who are now dealing with that happening soon. Be brave and enjoy life to the fullest for each good day you have with him/her. Peace be with you always.
