Cooper diagnosed with liver cancer

Cooper is our 12 year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and he was just diagnosed with liver cancer.

Cooper is jaundiced and his urine is dark yellow and he was vomiting then would not eat for 6 days.

It was the saddest day of our lives, we cried all day after taking him home from the vet. The vet wanted to do exploratory surgery, or put him down. We could not bear it, so decided to take care of him at home.

Essiac tea with milk thistle is highly recommend as I researched other similar stories of late stage liver cancer in dogs. I picked some up from an herbalist who has been brewing it for 14 years and has had good results in dogs and humans. I started him on it yesterday two tablespoons three times a day along with anti-vomit medication given by the vet.

I added the tea to his drinking water and keep him drinking water every two hours or so by putting the bowl in front of his nose.

I baked some boneless chicken thighs with white rice and onions, and lemon pepper and the aroma was filling the house and he actually for the first time in 6 days ate four bite size pieces last night!

I wish I would have know earlier so I could have put him on this tea before now.

He has gotten up twice today to urinate outside, he is weak and wobbly. His first urine stream was dark yellow his second was much lighter yellow.

I pray that God would heal him and that this tea will work.

I will keep you posted, thanks and my heart goes out to all of you dealing with the same excruciating pain as we are watching our beloved Cooper suffer.

Blessings to all of you : )

Hoping for update on your Cooper.
by: Samantha F.

Even though our dog Sydney has already passed from liver cancer, having all the same problems as your Cooper, we were hoping to hear if the tea and special diet were still helping him.

Hope this finds you all doing well.

Cooper UPDATE
by: Mary Ann Ault

Thank you everyone for your prayers for us and our beloved Wheaten Terrier Cooper.

He could barely lift his head to drink, would not eat for 7 days, could barely walk, his urine was dark yellow. He was vomiting every hour or so.

Cooper was given one week to live by the Vet on 3-05-2010.

Put him on the Essiac tea, on March 4th 2010, put it in his water and gave him 2 droppers full three times a day. Also gave him anti-vomit pill each day.

4 days later, Cooper started feeling better, he started eating the chicken and liver and steak I was cooking for him one bite at a time. He also started drinking a lot of water.

We started taking him to the park next to a big fresh water lake, and he is jumping and playing with the ducks and his tail is up and wagging like it used to. He is also putting on weight.

He had a set back two days ago and slept most of the day but he ate and drank a normal amount of food.

He is very good again today - happy, bouncing wagging his tail, looking for food!

Based on what I have experienced it looks like through prayer, the Essiac tea is healing my dog.

His urine is now much lighter yellow, more normal color. He still has slight diarrhea but think it is his system trying to regulate itself.

We are still very guarded, but I will continue to give him Essiac tea in his water as maintenance.

I will keep you all updated as time goes by, thanks again for all of the wonderful comments and prayers we have received!

Thanks again!

by: kathy s

My thoughts are with you. I am researching what you are using for my Max, Silkie Terrier, who has just been diagnosed with liver and spleen cancer. But he is diabetic, I have to watch what he eats. You sound like such remarkable pet parents. My prayers are with you

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, as I know that Cooper is such a special dog and that he is so loved by you and Jeff. I am really sorry to hear this sad news. Sounds like what you are doing for him is starting to help him; this is a good thing. Take care and give Cooper a hug for me...Cindi Meek
